Information for prospective new members

General meetings are on the second Thursday in the month, 2.15 for 2.30 in the Corn Exchange.

Our name indicates that after the first stage of childhood and education, then the second stage of working and raising a family, there comes a third age of retirement when people are free to get together to follow interests for which they have previously not had time.

The annual subscription is £15.00 (or £27.00 for a couple at the same address)

Guest are welcome to our monthly meetings, for which a charge of £1.50 is made, but only members who have paid their annual subscription are eligible to join the groups.

All members are invited to the monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month, 2.15 for 2.30, at the Corn Exchange. We start with a short business meeting, which is mainly announcements from group leaders.
This is usually followed by a guest speaker.
The meetings end informally with a cup of tea or coffee (fair trade) giving members a chance to talk to group leaders, committee members and other members. It is at these meetings that you meet poeple of like - or sometimes very different - interests.

Topics at our general meetings are varied, to suit all interests. There is also a summer garden party, a Christmas meal, a cream tea and often an annual outing. Sometimes there are other outings.

There are many active groups which meet once or twice a month, sometimes more often, in each others' homes or at some other venue. A small charge may be made to cover the cost of venue hire, materials, photocopying etc.

On joining you will receive a membership card and programme, which list contact number(s) for each group. There are some groups which for varous reasons are unable to take new memebers, but most groups will be able to accommodate and welcome new members.

ALL GROUP LEADERS ARE VOLUNTEERS.
